Your instructor might have you view some lesson material through Nearpod -- an app that lets you view slides, videos, and other materials. Follow along with this guide article to find the best way to get access to it!
Entering a shared code
Nearpod can use a shared code to allow you access to course content. Depending on your instructor, this could be posted in a few places; on an assignment page, in an announcement, or shared during a live class. If you're assigned material from Nearpod and are unsure of what the shared code is, reach out to your instructor for further assistance.
To access Nearpod content using a shared code:
- Go to the Nearpod link in the side navigation bar in your Canvas course.
- You should be prompted to enter your shared code in the Join a Session prompt
- This code is always unique to a specific lesson and is usually in all capital letters
- Example: ABCDE
- Enter your name
- If your name is not already filled out, feel free to add it in the first field and click Join Lesson
Using a posted link
Instead of a shared code, your instructor might post a link that will grant you access instead.
To access Nearpod content using a posted link:
- Click the posted link, a new tab should open prompting you to enter your name
- If your name is not already filled out, feel free to add it in the first field and click Join Lesson
My Nearpod Won't Load.
In some situations, you might try to access Nearpod and the screen to view your assignment will look blank, or the formatting/scrolling feature will not work correctly. If you run into this issue, the best first step to try would be to clear your computer's cache and cookies site data. You can do so by following the quick guide article here:
How can I clear my cache and cookies in Google Chrome?
Once completed, please try refreshing the page (click button in the upper left corner of your Chrome browser) and attempt to access the Nearpod once again. If issues persist, you might also need to try fully restarting your computer to approach it with a fresh start. (If you are accessing this assignment through a link on the course Weekly Starter Page, you might also try selecting the "Nearpod" tab in the Navigation menu to the left of the page and try that way.)
How do I reboot my Chromebook?
After attempting the options above, if it still doesn't work please contact your teacher and confirm Nearpod is working correctly for them and no other student's are reporting issues. In some cases, your teacher might need to adjust a setting on the assignment, or reload the link to the assignment in order to get it working once again.
(We are aware of an additional issue regarding the scrolling feature on Nearpod not functioning correctly. We have another guide article that should help with that):
Known Issue: Nearpod Scrolling Issue
