My Chromebook is too damaged to view screen
On outside of device
On all student Chromebooks there should be several stickers on the bottom of the device. While the device is closed, gently flip it over to view the bottom of the device. There should be a serial number tag as well as an asset number. Your serial number will likely start with "LI9BTFQI...".
The tag may be rubbed off or difficult to read depending on the age and condition of the device. If this is the case please proceed to the other options listed below.
Display on screen
When you first open your Chromebook you should be on the main sign-in page. You can actually get the serial number to display on-screen.
On your Chromebook sign-in screen, press Alt + V. Your serial number appears in the top right of the screen after “SN.”
My Chromebook is too damaged to view screen
If you're still unable to find your Chromebook's serial number it may be because the sticker is unreadable, the Chromebook will no longer power on, or perhaps your device is otherwise damaged. In this case you may be able to still provide the asset number if it is still intact. It should be located on the bottom of the Chromebook as well. You should mention this to the help agent that you are working with so that they can look up the device information. If this sticker is rubbed off as well please notify the tech support agent that you are working with.
